Changing all the names on an old second-hand laptop

Is there a list somewhere of registry entries for owner's names? I am
using an OLD laptop to run Microsoft Word 97 in night school until
they can fix the scheduling screw-up and put us in a lab. This laptop
was given to me over 5 years ago by my mother's cousin when she
upgraded. I changed the registry entry for the system information page
you get to by right-slicking on "my computer", but just noticed last
night I never changed the registration for Office. I'm going to search
the registry for all entries of her name, but is there a list
somewhere of all such things or a program to automate doing it? The
laptop is running Windows 98 First Edition.

I can't see that it is possible to get any such list, as there are
thousands (if not millions) of programs that may be affected.
You may get most by a search in Regedit for the old owners name but
some (like certain versions of Office, not sure of old versions like
O97) that may need uninstalling/reinstalling.

I meant for Windows and Office. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

If you just want to change the User Information in Word 97, open Word, click the
Tools menu> Options> User Information tab, change the user name in the Name box, and
click OK.

If you want to change the registered Company Name and the name that appears on the
opening splash screen for registered user, you have to uninstall and then reinstall
Office 97 (or Word 97 if that's all that is installed).

Later versions of Office, starting with Office 2000 or XP, have a couple of places
in the Registry that can be changed without having to uninstall/reinstall, but not
so for Office 97 and earlier.

So even if I change every instance I find in the registry, her name
will still be displayed on the splash screen when I start word?
Bummer. Unfortunetly, I only have Office 97 and Office 2003. Also
Office2007 TRIAL that has since expired.

Start/Run, type "regedit" in a box & hit Enter
from tab Registry go to Export registry file & save it to some place.
Than change/rename/add the *.reg extension to *.wri extension so that
WordPad can open it by double clicking it . There go to Edit/replace
from tab and write in names you wanna change & click replace. When
done save the file.
Rename back file extension to previous state & double click on it to
import the registry.Restart Win ... Done ! :-)

done save the file.

You don't have to registry or entries for owner's names to make it Work.
The owner may registry or my not.
Microsoft Office Software's owner's don't have it......

or Buy the Software and come a Owner!
